People ask me this all the time, because they're not sure what to do if they ever get a DUI. If you refuse a breath test, legally, your driver's license will be suspended for one year, and for a second refusal, for up to 18 months. There's ways to get hardship licenses while your DUI case is going on. However, your license will be suspended. Refusing does make it more difficult for the state attorney's office, in the DUI case itself, to actually prove the case. However, it does have larger consequences to your driver's license.
